Workout Classes

Water based exercise classes are less well-known than the traditional style aerobics but have loads of health benefits. You can expect to work to music and follow an instructor who delivers a structured and effective routine.

Athletes and sports teams are building water exercise into their training programmes as they are recognising the important benefits the water can provide. Not only do these classes offer cardiovascular fitness improvements, stamina, flexibility and can help to control weight. They also offer strength training as the water provides extra resistance throughout your workout. The aquatic exercise association reports you can lose 400-500 calories in an hour!

Exercising in the water helps to support the body, in turn providing a low impact workout. This is great for people who have joint problems or rehabilitating from injury.

The beauty of the water is that it is suitable for everyone and can provide an excellent workout. The classes are fun, non-competitive and social.

At Bradford Swimming Pool we currently run:

Aqua Fit Deep Water  - An aerobics session in deep water that can maintain and improve stamina, strength and suppleness as well as increase cardiovascular fitness. Unlike aerobics on land Aqua Fit is low-impact and the cushioning effect of the water protects joints in the spine, ankle, hip and knees. It is suitable for people of all ages and abilities as participants can work at a variety of levels by increasing effort and using resistive equipment.
