Healthy Walks

Each hour long session offers different routes, allowing people to further explore Ferndown.  The walks are designed to get people into a weekly exercise routine, as well as give them the perfect opportunity to socialise.

Nordic Walking

Walking with poles uses 90% of your major muscles and you burn 20-40% extra calories.  Pressure is taken off the knees and joints allowing you to get the most out of your walk. You need to have completed a 4 week 45 minute walking course teaching you the correct technique before you take part in our weekly walks at various countryside and seaside locations in Dorset.

Walking Football

Is a variant of association football that is aimed at keeping people aged 50+ involved with football if, due to a lack of mobility or for other reason, they don’t play the traditional game. The sport can be played both indoors and outdoors, we currently run sessions in the sports hall.  The key difference in the rules, from standard football, is that if a player runs then they concede a free kick to the other side.  The sport promotes cardiovascular fitness whilst producing the least stress on the body.  It also assists in maintaining an active lifestyle.
