National Pool Lifeguard Qualification
The Royal Life Saving Society National Pool Lifeguard Qualification is the most awarded
lifeguard qualification in the UK, it is widely accepted as a minimum qualification for a
role as a lifeguard.
The qualification is made up of three units:
1 - The lifeguard and the Law, Swimming Pool and Supervision
2 - Intervention and Rescue and Emergency Action Plans
3 - CPR, AED and First Aid
To book onto a course applicants must be competent to:
Jump/ Dive into Deep Water
swim 50 metres in no more than 60 seconds
swim 100 metres continuously on front and back
tread water for 30 seconds in deep water
surface dive to the deepest part of the pool
climb out of the pool unaided without using steps or ladder.
