Leisure Equity Policy

Focussed on our customers and developed with reference to Sport England Guidelines.

Places for People Leisure aims to ensure that all customers regardless of their age, gender, ability, race, religion, ethnic origin, creed, social status, or sexual orientation have a genuine and equal opportunity to participate in sport and activities at all levels and in all roles; whether as a beginner, participant or performer or as a coach, official, manager, administrator or spectator.

We pledge to:

  • Uphold our Equal Opportunities Policy, supported by awareness training
  • Facilitate (in partnership) the Council's sports development aims
  • Price activities to ensure equality of opportunity as far as possible
  • Work with Client councils to develop concessionary pricing and membership for socio-economic target groups
  • Train staff on disability etiquette and awareness
  • Offer vocational training and development opportunities
  • Ensure our programming reflects the diversity and needs of the community which is served as every facility and every community is different
  • Create an environment which is both safe and fun for all ages, where beginners are supported and talent can grow
  • Continually monitor customer participation and requirements across all sectors of the community and include non-users in our programme of monitoring
  • Communicate effectively with under represented groups using promotional material that reflects target groups and local diversity

This web site has been built so that the text size can be increased or decreased through standard browser settings. Below is guidance on how to do this in a selection of popular browsers.

Firefox

Using the menu:

  1. Click 'View'
  2. Click 'Zoom'
  3. Choose 'Zoom in' or 'Zoom out'

Keyboard shortcut: Hold the Ctrl key down and move the mouse wheel or by use Ctrl & '+' and Ctrl & '-'.

Chrome

Using the menu:

  1. Click on the spanner button to the right of the address bar
  2. Choose zoom '+' or '-'

IE 9

In Internet Explorer 9 the always-visible control has been removed.

Using the menu:

  1. Click on the cog icon in the top right
  2. Click 'Zoom'
  3. Choose the desired size

Keyboard shortcut: Hold the Ctrl key down and move the mouse wheel or by use Ctrl & '+' and Ctrl & '-'.

IE 8

IE 8 has a size-change facility permanently on view: the button in the bottom-right corner. This can be used to zoom the whole page (text and images).

Using the menu:

  1. Click 'View'
  2. Click 'Zoom'
  3. Choose the desired size
