Health & Wellbeing

Background

As we run leisure centres on behalf of Local Authority clients we are parterns in public health, contributing to improved community health outcomes. All Places for People Leisure Contract and General Managers are aware of their area’s Joint Strategic Needs Assessments (JSNAs) and are active within local Health and Wellbeing partnerships and committees in order to deliver effective programmes within their Leisure Centre(s).  Our Health and Wellbeing focus is to tackle unhealthy lifestyles, address health inequalities and empower communities, families and individuals to lead healthier lives.

Initiatives

Places for People Leisure is experienced in delivering quality Health and Wellbeing initiatives including:

  • GP Exercise referral programmes
  • Falls Prevention classes
  • Stroke Rehabilitation
  • Cardiac Rehabilitation
  • Cancer Rehabilitation
  • Smoking Cessation
  • Swim4HealthTM - an initiative that encourages people to use the pool as an exercise space with a tailored programme to improve their health outcomes

  • Weight management for adults - including our Shape Up programme - a structured programme designed by psychologists, dieticians and exercise specialists which helps to create an improved attitude and lifestyle change.
  • Weight management courses for children designed to encourage, guide and enable them to live healthier and more active lives.
  • Senior Physical Activity - over 50s and 60s programmes.
  • NHS Health Checks
  • Tailored Health Checks

Places for People Leisure has strong links with public health teams, Street Games, National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of sports and County Sports Partnerships to develop new initiatives to tackle health inequalities.

Places for People Leisure is also signed up to the Government’s Responsibility Deal.

 

 

Awarded the RSPH health and wellbeing award 2013-16 for Swim4Health.  Monitored by SWIMTAG.

With the development of our successful Swim4HealthTM brand we have designed a Logo for external use that enables us to provide this product to external operators, councils etc.

Using the menu:

  1. Click 'View'
  2. Click 'Zoom'

Chrome

Using the menu:

  1. Click on the spanner button to the right of the address bar
  2. Choose zoom '+' or '-'

IE 9

In Internet Explorer 9 the always-visible control has been removed.

Using the menu:

  1. Click on the cog icon in the top right
  2. Click 'Zoom'
  3. Choose the desired size

Keyboard shortcut: Hold the Ctrl key down and move the mouse wheel or by use Ctrl & '+' and Ctrl & '-'.

IE 8

IE 8 has a size-change facility permanently on view: the button in the bottom-right corner. This can be used to zoom the whole page (text and images).

Using the menu:

  1. Click 'View'
  2. Click 'Zoom'
  3. Choose the desired size
