10 Year Contact Signed with Maldon District Council

Tim Hewett, Business Development Director tells us more about our new 10 year contract with Maldon District Council.

We have recently become Maldon District Council’s new leisure facilities partner and will run Blackwater Leisure Centre and the Dengie Hundred Leisure Centre, in Burnham, after signing a new 10-year contract.

As part of the contract Maldon District Council has promised to refurbish both centres, investing just under £2million.

We will start by introducing an innovative programme of activities as well as delivering our refurbishment and development proposals. These have been designed to add further appeal and capacity at the centres, encouraging more of the local citizens, of all ages, to become more active and healthy. The refurbishments will begin immediately.

Cllr Mark Durham, Chairman of the Council's Community Services Committee added; "A tremendous amount of hard work has been undertaken to ensure that we secure the very best provider for our Leisure provision in the District for the next 10 years and we are delighted to now announce Places for People Leisure as our preferred bidder.”
