Continued commitment to quality leisure provision

As a Group, we’ve spent over 20 years building our trusted reputation and becoming arguably the best in the industry. Places for People Leisure is a community minded organisation bursting with passion and enthusiasm to get communities more physically active. Recent award wins reaffirm our best practice approach and commitment to quality.

We are very proud to announce our number one ranking in the Quest Sports Development national league table. Amongst the 34-strong table sit local authorities, County Sports Partnerships and single contract Operators. Achieving ‘excellent’ scores in all categories is testament to our effective planning, delivery and review of our leisure facilities and sporting programmes.

At site level, Alfreton, Ripley and William Gregg Leisure Centres were ranked as the top three leisure facilities in the UK, achieving ‘outstanding’ status in the Quest Stretch Assessment 2013. Our passion and genuine desire to continually improve what we do lies at the cornerstone of this achievement.

Equally impressive has been our work in training and encouraging apprentices which was recognised in the Apprenticeship Provider of the Year accolade at the Active Leisure Awards. In partnership with Lifetime Training we have over 350 apprentices achieving qualifications each year, with exceptionally high completion rates.

Our work to empower local communities with health and wellbeing hubs was rewarded with the national Royal Society for Public Health 2013 Health and Wellbeing Award. The three year title affirms Places for People Leisure’s best practice approach to supporting local authority partners within the new public health landscape.
