DC Leisure crowned Leisure Centre Operator of the Year 2013
The ukactive Flame Awards are the most prestigious ones that recognise excellence and best practice within the leisure management sector. The awards are assessed independently and are fiercely competed for. DC Leisure has won this prestigious award on 3 previous occasions and we are very proud to be recognised by the industry yet again for our excellent standards of service and pursuit of making the communities we serve, more active, more often!
Steve Philpott, Chief Executive of DC Leisure comments on our latest prestigious award win at the ukactive Flame Awards and Ball of Fire:
“We are extremely pleased to accept the award for Operator of the Year 2013. The award recognises our success in achieving outstanding operating standards and our commitment to delivering an unmatched customer experience for each and every user.
“The team in attendance at the ceremony collected the award on behalf of the entire DC Leisure workforce. Each and every DC Leisure employee works hard to achieve outstanding Quest scores, providing quality facilities and services to all our customers. In addition, our Sports Development Team has been recognised for its ongoing commitment to forging successful relationships with National Governing Bodies in an attempt to drive community engagement and develop innovative projects, such as Swim4Health.
“As a Group we attract 25 million visits each year, have built 10 new leisure centres over the last six years and most importantly we are improving the health and wellbeing of the local communities we serve by getting them more physically active, more often.
“Now under new ownership, we have a solid foundation for growth in the years ahead and look forward to an array of exciting opportunities in partnership with Places for People.”
DC Leisure was also a finalist in the Spark of Innovation category with SWIMTAG, the new training aid for swimmers of all abilities having been winners last year in this category. Two of it's Leisure Centres; Alfreton Leisure Centre and Aston-cum-Aughton Leisure Centre were finalists in the Leisure Centre of the Year category.
The Operator of the Year award requires companies to submit an application of 1,000 words plus appendices covering five key areas shown below for 2012:
- Managing your ‘member relationships’
- HR policy and procedures
- Corporate Social Responsibility - community engagement
- Marketing techniques
- Evidencing: data captured and how you put it to use
The initial submission forms 25% of the overall score. 35% of the overall score is made up by the top 3 Leisure Centre scores from those entered into Leisure Centre of the Year. The final 40% comes from a Customer Satisfaction Survey to determine our Net Promoter Score (NPS) emailed out to over 5,000 customers.
Entries are then shortlisted and reviewed by an unbiased FIA panel. The finalists this year were DC Leisure, SLM/Everyone Active, GLL, Leisure Connection and Sheffield International Venues.
