New £11 Million West Bromwich Leisure Centre Opens

West Bromwich Leisure Centre, a new state of the art leisure development has been officially opened to the public.

 

The new facility, designed, built and managed by Places for People Leisure and its construction partner Pellikaan on behalf of Sandwell Borough Council, includes a 25m pool with a learner pool, sauna and steam room, a four-court sports hall, a 100-station fitness suite, two dance studios/activity rooms, an indoor children’s adventure play centre and cafe.

 

On Monday 02 June local school children were the first to try out the new pool whilst West Bromwich MP Tom Watson officially cut the ribbon and declared the centre open.

 

“This is a fantastic resource for the people of Sandwell.  The new pool and leisure centre for West Bromwich is a promise delivered.  West Bromwich is now a place you can be proud to live, learn, shop and enjoy your leisure time in,” commented MP Tom Watson.

 

Councillor Steve Eling, Sandwell Council’s deputy leader said: “It is wonderful that this superb new development will bring such top class facilities for the people of West Bromwich and the rest of Sandwell.

 

“This is a vital scheme and important piece of the re-development jigsaw that is transforming the West Bromwich town centre area.

 

“We place a very high priority in the ability of local people to enjoy sport and to keep fit and it is the latest in the recent openings of leisure facilities across the borough.”

 

Development Director at Places for People Leisure Peter Kirkham, added:  “This is a fantastic team effort to deliver the new West Bromwich Leisure Centre on time and on budget. We look forward to working with Sandwell Council over the coming years and delivering an excellent leisure service for the residents of West Bromwich.”

  2. Click 'Zoom'
  3. Choose the desired size

IE 8

IE 8 has a size-change facility permanently on view: the button in the bottom-right corner. This can be used to zoom the whole page (text and images).
