Suffolk District Council Partnership

DC Leisure has been successful in its bid to partner Suffolk District Council for another 15 years. The contract will be reviewed in five year cycles and there will be an option for a further three five-year extensions. The leisure operator has managed Brackenbury, Deben, Felixstowe and Leiston Leisure Centres on behalf of the Council for the past 10 years.

A competitive procurement process, 10 companies expressed an interest in managing the contract. Five were shortlisted with DC Leisure being successful in their bid to help shape Suffolk Coastal’s leisure provision.

There is also the potential for DC Leisure to support the Council in the future developing other areas of its leisure portfolio, in line with Suffolk Coastal’s emerging Leisure Strategy.

Cllr Geoff Holdcroft, the Suffolk Coastal Cabinet Member leading this project says: “We carried out a competitive procurement process to ensure we got the best possible value for money, whilst also meeting the challenge of increasing participation in sport and improving the health and fitness of local people. Working with Sport England, we went through an exhaustive selection process to find the company we are confident will help us shape our leisure facility strategy for the future.

“I look forward to us establishing an equally productive partnership in the coming years. We were very impressed by the quality of DC Leisure’s offering, with its plans to invest and improve the leisure provision in the District.”
