This Girl Can Campaign

This Girl Can celebrates the women who are doing their thing no matter how they do it, how they look or even how sweaty they get! They’re here to inspire us to wiggle, jiggle, move and prove that this Girl Can! http://www.thisgirlcan.co.uk/.

PfP Leisure want to show our support of this inspiring campaign by showcasing our own talented Girls and the barriers that they themselves overcome in order to wiggle, jiggle and move! Meet the Girls and hear their own personal success stories.

Sandra Dodd, Chief Executive

Sandra Vs Work Pressures

I have to make a real effort to find the time to exercise in my busy work schedule. I love to be outside and that is why running is my favourite exercise. When I go for a run before work I feel energised and ready for the day and issues that are concerning me fall into perspective. I’m sure that my mental performance and output is greater after a run. So make the time it will be more than paid back!

Catharine Simonds, Group Marketing Manager

Cath Vs Busy Life!

Trying to fit in cycling, swimming and hockey. Easier at weekends as I play hockey but weekdays are the challenge. I’m not good at getting up in the mornings and I’m tired at the end of the day so it’s a constant battle to motivate myself. I’m really good some weeks and not so good on others. The winter is harder too with the cold evenings, but I’m trying to focus on one week at a time and I seem to be getting somewhere! I feel less tired and more positive about life after I’ve done exercise so that keeps me going. I cycle at home on a turbo trainer, swim once a week and train / play hockey twice a week.

Clare Hayler, Group HR Manager

Clare Vs Pain

Exercise relieves my back pain, after a yoga or pilates class I feel re-balanced, re-energised and ‘almost’ pain free.

Nicola La Niece, Group Gymnastics Manager

Nikki Vs Time!

The competition is with myself to do more lengths, in faster times, and I want to win! The more I challenge myself, the better and more motivated I feel.

Rachel Pickering, HR Advisor

Rachel Vs Excuses

It always used to be “too cold” or “too hot”, I was “too hungry”, “too tired”, “too busy”, too many other things I’d rather be doing!!! But then instead of thinking about why I couldn’t exercise, I turned it around! If it’s cold – put an extra layer on. If it’s hot – take extra water. If you’re hungry – have a healthy snack. If you’re tired – exercising will wake you up! Exercising and eating healthily are now my top priorities – I feel better, I’m happier and I have more energy! #dothethingsyoulove

Priya Patel, Business Development Assistant

Priya Vs Fear

I am scared of the effects of inactivity and obesity. I love Body Pump because the more I do, the better I get and the better I get the better I want to be.
