Car Park Update
Find out about our plans to create additional parking
Graves Health and Sports Centre Parking Provision
Dear Centre User
Whilst we are very proud of our new facility at Graves, we recognise that the current car parking provision could be improved.
We would like to share with you our future plans to improve the parking provision at Graves. We are currently working with our partners within the National Centre for Sport & Exercise Medicine and the NHS in arranging additional parking to be created behind the Centre. This area is currently disused Tennis Courts and if altered to parking would provide space for approximately 70 additional vehicles.
We are currently going through the planning application stage which can take several weeks to have any confirmation back.
Below is an image of the proposed area where the new Car Park would be located. Due to site restrictions and neighbouring land, we are unable to site the Car Park in any other location and deem this the best available space.
During this time we would request that our visitors where ever possible consider alternative modes of transport. If you live close by please consider walking or cycling, we have great facilities for being able to secure your bicycle on site.
I would also like to provide an update on the retail development that is starting to take some form of shape on the old Leisure Centre and Norton College site. This will be completed by April 2018, with the demolition of the old facilities currently taking place. When complete the development will have its own ‘free’ parking with around 450 parking bays. The development will create an additional 20 bays on the old Tennis Centre Car Park for our users.
Over the coming weeks I hope to be able to provide an update on the new Car Park proposals and keep all our visitors and members fully up-to-date.
