Rotary Swimathon 2018
Saturday 17th March.
Our 22nd Annual Swimathon takes place on Saturday 17th of March. This year we will see the gross total amount raised in those 22 years exceed £200'000, something of which we are extremley proud and so grateful to all our swimmers and supporters.
The event is divided into sessions of 10 teams of 6 swimming in relay style for 35 minutes. Age and ability are no barrier and it's not a race or competition. The aim is for it to be a day of fun while raising funds from sponsorship for our charities, local schools and groups.
In 2017 we welcomed 94 teams which meant that well over 500 swimmers came to Parish Wharf throughout the day to take part and at the end of their swim they receive a Certificate and a goodie bag, enjoyed by all ages!
Our charities this year includ Portishead Stroke Drop in Centre, Dyslexia Portishead, The Alzheimer's Society and MacMillan Cancer Support.
Primary and Secondary Schools in our part of Somerset who enter can also benefit by receiving some funding for a project they are working torwards, as well as Guides, Brownies, Scouts and Cubs etc.
